And we have a winner!

Congratulations to baby #1!!!!! Her mommy will be enjoying a beautiful new custom designed portrait bag. I hope you all enjoyed that contest! Now that I’ve figured out how to have a poll on the blog, I think it would be fun to have an occasional poll for you. And of course another contest will happen someday.

The Spring Mini-Portrait Special will almost certainly be on Satruday March 29th. That’s one weekend after Easter. The timing should be perfect for giving you enough time to have gift items ordered for Mothers day. And the set will be “springy” (kind of!) so if your little ones have adorable Easter/Spring outfits, this will be the time to wear them! Check back in for more details and the packages that will be available.

NEW - Limited Baby Portrait Plan

You guys are going to love this! I’m starting a brand new baby plan for those of you who would really like to come in and capture baby’s milestone portraits. The first five people to sign up will receive an ADDITIONAL $100 off of the already excellent value.

The plan includes three half-sessions, and a keepsake leather album (with 30 5×7 portraits - over $700 value on it’s own!) at the end. You can use the sessions at any time over an 18 month period to suit your own preferences. AND you will be able to lock in the current SLM Studios pricing and not have to worry about future rate increases during your 18 months in the plan. A half-session means we’ll have time for one backdrop and about two outfit changes (maybe more or less depending on baby’s attitude!) Babies two years and younger qualify for the baby plan. You may use one of the sessions for maternity portraits.

October 20 didn’t work out for very many of you! So we’re rescheduling for Nov 3, which seems to be working for more of you And that gives you more time to shop for those holiday outfits that can be a little tricky to find in early October. You may have noticed….

My new ad in the Kansas City Kids’ Directory! This is that little half-size magazine on news stands at the entrances to some stores and shops around town that advertises all kinds of services for baby, family, children, etc. I’m easy to find, on page 17 right in the middle where the staples are. And it looks like this:

Now here’s the fun part for YOU: New Clients, bring this ad to your session for all sessions between now and Nov 30., and you will receive a FREE mini-spiral-brag book with any order of $350 or more. (mini-spiral-brag is 4×5, has 10-15 images, my choice of images, will likely include your favorites). Holiday Schedule and Mini-Session

The mini-session date is October 20, in the morning. Pricing is as follows: $175 ($50 required to hold spot, $125 due on day of session) 15-20 minute mini-session, 8-12 proofs presented in online gallery, 1 package (25) flat holiday cards, and five gift prints (8×10 or smaller). Sweet Apple (deep mottled red color) backdrop + wood floor, Santa Hats available. Miscellaneous holiday-ish props will be available, like candy-canes, red petti-skirts are expected to arrive soon (these are kind of like ruffl-y tutu skirts), I have a little miniature bed if you’d like to dress the kids in Christmas pajamas (I’m doing this for my own kids this year for sure!!! What could be cuter?!?!), you can have them bring their Christmas stocking. I will be putting sample images of this set up on the blog, so look for that in the next week or so.

Many of you will enjoy a full session for the holidays because you’ll have so many more proof images to choose from. You’ll also be able to choose your own backdrop, probably even two backdrops and do clothing changes, etc. On-location sessions are still available as well, indoors or outside.

You can still book a portrait party if you would like. There is a little bit of information about that on the SLM Studios webpage section for pricing, but I’d be happy to answer any questions you have about hosting a party. Guests receive special discounted pricing and packages and the hostess is rewarded for all of her hard work!

It is also important to note that there is a $200 minimum print purchase from your session before holiday cards can be purchased. This does not apply to the mini-sessions or a portrait party.

Now for the DEADLINES….
Nov 14 is the deadline for completing your Holiday session for portraits and cards needed for the holidays.
November 21 is the deadline for placing a custom portrait bag/purse order.
November 28 is the absolute deadline for placing your holiday card order. I strongly recommend getting the card orders in about a week before that (Nov 21).
December – you may still book a session in December, but I cannot guarantee anything for Christmas. Clients generally receive their finished order one month from the date of their session. You can speed up this process by making your decision very quickly after your online gallery is available and making payment for your order immediately. Portraits and collages have the fastest turnaround times. Cards and portrait handbags and purses have the longest turnaround times, especially during the holiday season. I hope nobody needs that information in December, but there it is!
